Manchester United’s Striker Search
Manchester United are reportedly considering a move for Brentford striker Igor Thiago as they look to strengthen their attacking options. This comes as the club is also looking to potentially sell Joshua Zirkzee this summer.
Thiago, who signed a new contract with Brentford in February that runs until 2031, scored 22 goals in 38 league appearances last season. His performance led to a call-up to Carlo Ancelotti’s World Cup squad. United have made enquiries to understand the player’s situation, though securing his transfer this summer is reportedly seen as challenging.
Zirkzee, who joined United from Bologna, is likely to be moved on this summer, with clubs in Italy reportedly interested in bringing him back to Serie A. Juventus are considered frontrunners and are looking to sign the Netherlands international on a season-long loan with an option for a permanent move next summer. United, however, would prefer a permanent sale and would need to replace Zirkzee before the end of the transfer window.
Another name linked with United is Dusan Vlahovic, who left Juventus on a free transfer at the end of last season. The Serbian international scored ten goals for Juventus last season and has reportedly received an offer to join Turkish side Besiktas. United are also monitoring Ollie Watkins’ situation at Aston Villa, with the Englishman also attracting interest from Turkey.

Midfield and Defensive Targets
United have already secured the signings of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans to bolster their midfield. Karl Darlow has also joined from Leeds United to serve as a backup for Senne Lammens. Despite these additions, the club is still keen to add another central midfielder, with Carlos Baleba and Manu Kone among the names under consideration.
In defence, United may also look to make a bid for Newcastle United left-back Lewis Hall. Hall is reportedly keen to switch from St James’ Park to Old Trafford this summer. He is said to be considered as a long-term replacement for Luke Shaw as United aim to strengthen their options in the left-back position.
Reports from Belgium suggest that United and Chelsea could attempt to sign Club Brugge star Nicolo Tresoldi. The striker scored and provided assists in his debut season. While Tresoldi has agreed to continue with the Belgian club, there is a possibility he could be persuaded otherwise by Premier League clubs.
United have also been offered the chance to sign Rafael Leao this summer, according to reports from Italy. AC Milan are reportedly seeking a price for the player in the current transfer window.

Preparations for the new 2026/27 season are ongoing, with Michael Carrick putting his squad through their paces. The team is scheduled to play Atletico Madrid in their third friendly of pre-season on Saturday. The season opener against newly-promoted Hull City is set for August 22.
Jadon Sancho, a free agent after his contract with United ended in June, has been training at Flixton FC to maintain his fitness while he searches for a new club. Tyler Fredricson has also departed United after 11 years at the club, sharing a farewell message on social media.
Goalkeeper Orlando Gill, a Paraguay international, has attracted interest from United. His agent confirmed enquiries from the club, stating that they are in talks with English and German clubs and have received two concrete offers. The agent also mentioned that a sale is close and that Gill is prepared for a step up in quality.
New signing Youri Tielemans and Belgian teammate Senne Lammens have arrived at Carrington to begin pre-season training. Both players were part of the Belgium World Cup squad that was knocked out at the quarter-final stage.
